Waxing Poetic Wednesday: Back to School

It's that time of year! For the first time in a very long time, I won't be going back to school. I'm not sure how I feel about that. But for all of you who are, or have children who are, here's todays Waxing Poetic poem:

Back to School

by Aileen Fischer

When the summer smells like apples

and shadows feel cool

and falling leaves make dapples

of color on the pool

and wind is in the maples

and sweaters are the rule

and hazy days spell lazy ways,

it's hard to go to school.

But, I go!
